She considered walking out, but then the corner of his mouth quirked, just a little, and he reached out to tuck a long strand of her hair behind one ear. When he touched the edge of her jaw, a trail of goose bumps splintered down her spine.
She couldn’t turn away. Not from a man with a smile that reached right down inside her, or eyes that were sexy, yet warm, the kind that belonged to a man who spent a lot of his time laughing. A man who would spend the night and buy you breakfast in the morning.
“Well, to answer your question, I’m leaving tomorrow for Nepal.” The flutter between her legs grew to a throb.
“Dear God.” Ross pulled back, frowning. “Are you climbing Mount Everest?”
Kelsey smiled. “No. Annapurna, actually. Annapurna One.”
“There’s more than one of them?”
“It’s a section of peaks in the Himalayas. Annapurna One is the tallest. Not as big as Everest, but size isn’t everything.”
Ross waggled his eyebrows. “Anyone who says that is lying, you know.”

I Believe in Love
I Believe in Love
One of the many criticisms lobbed at romance novels is that they're unrealistic because the characters fall in love at first sight. "People don’t fall in love that fast," the non-believers say. "It’s ridiculous. Totally unrealistic."
I tend not to write books that have characters falling in love at first sight, but they do fall in lust . . . and that lust does turn to love. But I happen to think the whole process is completely realistic. Here’s how it works:
In Falling for Mr. Wrong, Kelsey and Ross meet up in a bar. Kelsey is on her way to Nepal, where she's going to climb a really big, really dangerous mountain. She's got some very important reasons for making the climb, but they don’t have much to do with fun. Because Kelsey’s not at all sure she's coming back. And that leaves her ready to do something she wouldn't normally do.
Kelsey watched Ross sit back down. He motioned across the room toward a waitress, who immediately gave him a simpering smile. She had a feeling women regularly turned into helpless adolescents around him. Six feet of muscle and shoulders you could set a truck on drew the initial gaze, but it was the intense blue eyes and deadly smile that made it impossible to look away. Something about Ross Bencher promised a night of sensual bliss, and that was precisely what she wanted.
Something crazy. Something different. Something that she’d never done before, and would never have the chance to do again.
Yes, they do fall into bed together, but no, they don’t fall instantly in love. How could they? They barely know each other! Still, after a crazy night together, a special bond has been created, and when they meet again, three years later, that bond is still there. Kelsey appears as a temporary nanny for Ross's kids, and Ross can't even pretend he doesn't remember her.
It should have taken him some time to place her. He should have had a moment of doubt before he remembered her name. Instead, he felt as if he’d just seen her the day before.
She gaped at him, her mouth falling open slightly. He waited for her to say something, but she was apparently as startled as he was, because no sound emerged.
The attraction was instant. Overwhelming. It had been three years, but he remembered her body as though it had been mapped onto his brain. Memories of their night together assaulted him. He tried to banish them, but images of long tangled hair and tanned skin lingered and burned behind his eyes.
Now after they get back together, the real fun begins. Because happily ever after can start with lust at first sight, but it’s got to become more. It's got to come from shared experiences and values, from supporting each other through disappointments and moments of doubt.
I know people think romance novels are unrealistic, but if you ask me, they’re the most realistic thing in the world. Because love does exist. And if you’re telling a story about love, lust isn’t such a bad place to start.
